Ben Folds Five, 4th December, Brixton

Funsters

Ben Folds Five are reforming and heading back to the UK
Cost is £43. It's a lot, but they're legendary - describe themselves as punk rock for sissies. It's beautiful piano led music with very good lyrics and lovely melodies -modern Jerry Lee Lewis.

Songs:

One Angry dwarf and 200 solemn faces http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwFBshjGe8I
Battle of who could care less http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Y1wm7CFRCQ

Might also play Ben Fold songs:

Yeasayer

Heroes

Yeasayer are touring their new album. They're Broklyn based amp band - MGMT/ the Naked and the Famous ... Not sure what they're like live. Tickets £20

Tallest man on Earth

Funsters

Tallest Man on Earth, 22nd October, HMV Forum. He writes and records his own music, compared with Bob Dylan, but don't let that put you off, it's a lot less gruelling and is softened by the influence of Nick Drake. Great live ...

Gregory Alan Isakov

Funsters

Gregory Alan Isakov is playing the Slaughtered Lamb - Farringdon, 29th Oct, tickets are £11.

Heard him on Californication, Don't know him that well, but it's a tiny venue and very intimate. He's most similar to Damien Rice:

Newton Faulkner at Scala

Newton Faulkner is going to be playing Scala 1st May. If you don't know him you will be made to sit on the naughty step. My favourite artist for the last 5 years or so, singer/song writer, saw him at glasto, incredible live - engages with the crowd, great voice, fantastic guitar player and all round entertainer.

Songs:

So much http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfJCSBdjtdg - about his guitar teacher that died

Gotye - Wednesday, February 29, Shepherds Bush

Another great gig: Gotye

His music is electro/soul/indie mix, quite experimental and very underated, videos are all very creative, so would expect it to be a very interactive gig. Songs are:

Puzzle with a piece missing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpOMPU2h40s
Somebody that i used to know: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UVNT4wvIGY

Justin Currie of Del Amitri fame

So next gig to recommend - Justin Currie is playing the Union Chapel, 18th May £20 or so including fees

He's the lead singer of Del Amitri and he will play a lot of their songs. They were my favourite band in the 90's . if you like crowded house ....
Best songs are:

Driving with the brakes on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Mj8KDpoZnQ (lyrics amazing, about an abortion destroying their relationship)
